We love being able to gather as a whole Church on Sunday mornings, but there’s another six days in the week, and we weren’t made to go through them alone. That’s where Home Groups come in, helping us to connect with one another and form the meaningful friendships that offer support and encouragement as we navigate our daily lives.
“For where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them.”
Jesus – Matthew 18, verse 20
I’ve so often found that to be true when I’ve been part of a committed Home Group. A few years ago, when I was struggling with ill-health, it was my Home Group who stood with me. I knew that whether it was Monday morning or Wednesday night, there was a group of people who loved me and would answer any call for prayer and support. Through them I experienced the love of God in new ways and made it through what so often seemed like a hopeless situation.
A good Home Group is more than a Bible Study class, and it’s not just a bunch of friends getting together for coffee – though hopefully it will have elements of both.
Home Groups are a place to become family, who we can celebrate with when times are good and call upon when the going gets tough. They’re a place where we can all support and challenge one another to live in the fullness of all God has for us, share who we really are, and grow closer to our incredible Saviour Jesus.
