Chesham Community Fridge

ABOUT US:

Each year in the UK over 60% of the food that we waste could have been eaten if only we were more creative about sharing it with those who could use it. That’s over 4 million tonnes of avoidable waste. In 2018, one of our Kings Church members had the vision to do something about this scandalous wastage of good food. So that year, Chesham Community Fridge was set up with the support of Hubbub and Fareshare, to collect food from local supermarkets, growers and gardeners and the Felix Charity, distributing it to our community to ensure that the food arrives at families’ tables and be eaten.

Since then, under the auspices of The Kings Church, Chesham Community Fridge has been giving out free bags of good food that would otherwise have been thrown away.

Where to find us:

We are open from 10am to 12 noon every Wednesday and Saturday morning, based next to Broadway Baptist Church in the Broadway, Chesham.

HOW TO GET A BAG OF FOOD:

Anyone is welcome to come and collect a bag free of charge: no referrals are needed as our main focus is the reduction of food waste. If you would like to become one of our Food Waste Heroes and collect a bag, just arrive in good time and join the queue.

ALL YOU NEED TO BRING IS EITHER:

A STRONG, PLASTIC, “BAG FOR LIFE” WITH FABRIC HANDLES
OR
A ONE-OFF DONATION OF £1

You will then be given a filled bag and all you need to do after that is to bring back your empty, very clean bag and exchange it for your next full bag of food.
