We welcome you to come along on a Sunday morning to our service. There is no dress code and the atmosphere is warm and easy. We begin at 10.30 with refreshments and a chance to meet people and relax before the service begins at 11am.
The service itself begins with half an hour of worship led in a contemporary style, with a high level of energy and movement, but also including more reflective moments. Later in the service there will be teaching based on a Bible passage, and often an opportunity to respond if desired, while the service finishes with more worship. We aim to finish by 12.30.
During term time there are usually children’s ministry and teen activities, which begin about 20 minutes into the service (leaders will accompany children to and from their groups). During school holidays there will often be All-in services which are high energy, inclusive meetings for all ages, though these are shorter and more interactive than the regular services.
We do take an offering during services, but visitors are not expected to contribute, as the church is supported and sustained by those who have chosen to make The King’s Church Chesham their spiritual home.
Children & Teens
We want it to be the BEST hour of the week for children, teens & adults. We explore faith and life in creative & fun ways, and within the context of Grace, Growth, Group, Gifts, and Good Stewardship.
- STEP & TREK
For children age 4 to 11 years. Learning about God, caring for one another, and fun! We look at bits from the Bible together then split into smaller groups and discover further. We watch video clips, play games, dance, sing, do crafts and have lots more fun.
- Inspire meets on Sunday mornings – ages 12 to 16 years. This is a relaxed and welcoming environment for young people in our church (and our lovely visitors!), where they explore how the love of God transforms their lives, and those of the people they do life with.
- We encourage sixth form and older to stay in the main service on Sundays, then once a month Late Shift meet with a follow up session in the evening to unpick what we’ve heard on Sunday mornings.
The King’s Church Chesham is committed to safeguarding and Disclosure & Barring Service practices.
We have a Breakout area next to the main reception. This is a family-friendly area available at any point during the service which provides space for babies/toddlers to play freely while mums, dads & carers enjoy the service via a line feed. Baby changing facilities are available in the disabled toilet adjacent to this area.
At The King’s Church Chesham we place a high value on both individual creativity and the potential for every believer to contribute for the common good. These values come together several times each year in our planning for special services. Aside from celebrating the familiar Christian festivals within all-age contexts, we seek to give opportunities for the whole church body to benefit from the gifts, stories, and life experience of one another.
In recent years we have had twice yearly art displays (Pentecost and Harvest) when everyone is invited to bring along their own paintings, woodwork, poetry, photographs, knitting etc, to illustrate the huge variety of God given talents residing within the church family, and to give thanks for God’s gifts to each one of us. We also have twice yearly testimony services where people get to share their own personal experiences of God and of personal transformation, to encourage and inspire others. These times live long in the memory and become part of the church’s collective sense of journeying together.
We aim to have All-in services during the main school holidays and once per school term, with the goal being to create high quality shared experiences of the love of God and the truth of his Word. These hour-long services are always inspirational and lots of fun, but also have a thought provoking edge.
