“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine,
you did for me.” Matthew 25:40
Towards the end of 2019 The King’s Church Chesham were approached with an opportunity to help people in need in Chesham in a practical way. The support is made possible through a new partnership with Acts 435, a national online charity that puts local donors in touch with people in need in their town. Acts 435 enables us to post online requests for donations, to fund specific items that will help people in difficult circumstances to move away from the brink of crisis and cope again. It’s a bit like crowd-funding and 100% of donor funds go to people in need.
An advocate connects those in need and those who want to help, protecting anonymity and confidentiality. It gives donors an opportunity to provide practical, direct help for specific items in a simple way, with no admin or overhead costs.
If you would like to donate, please go to acts435.org.uk, or if you would like to donate specifically to the TKCC hardship fund in view of the current environment, you can email email@example.com to receive the church bank details.
If you would like to make a request for funding through Acts 435, please contact our advocate John Jenkins on 07521 017905.
If however you have a very urgent request as a result of the current environment, please call Tracey Fenner on 07940 411628.
Examples of what’s been achieved:
> Mood lamp for little boy with ADHD – now sleeps through the night
> Tent, camping stove and bicycle to support homeless bricklayer
> Cost of covering DBS safeguarding certificate for a woman who needed it for a job
John and helpers also have a stall to raise funds for Acts435 and people in need every Saturday morning market on the High Street. Everything is available for a donation, with nothing priced. Be sure to visit!
